Praying more earnestly...

As I thought of our pastor's words in a recent sermon-I see them combining themselves in today's quiet time reading-as a bigger picture of God's voice for me...

Approaching Easter our pastor spoke of Mary weeping outside the place where Jesus was laid after His death. "Where have they put Him?" ( from John 20:10-18), she asked whom she thought was the gardener. In her grief and anguish, she couldn't see her own Savior standing there. She couldn't comprehend the reality and truth of His words when He said that she will see Him again. Because of her overwhelming sorrow, she couldn't understand and sense His presence.

And today I am reading about the grief of Christ (Luke 22:39-46) in His anguish He PRAYS MORE EARNESTLY.  I understand even more now His words as He went into the Garden. He says, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation."  In the disciples exhausted state of sorrow, they slept. In Mary's overwhelming heartache she was blinded with tears.   But, in our Savior's time of utmost pain He prayed to His Father.

We must pray EARNESTLY when we are overcome with grief, sorrow, disillusionment, troubles, burdens, disappointments, lack of motivation and fatigue....pray my friend, for the temptation to quit, to falter, to lose hope, to become dry, deaden and hopeless are lurching just ahead. Pray to the one who protects your life (Psalm 27:1). Pray to the One who IS our Strength and Protection (Psalm 46:1). Pray.
